July

Dearest Colt and Jackson,

The excitement continued into July.

July 1st brought a real 1st for us - your 1st signing day, Jax.  You're now at the age where you can move from academy soccer to select and you were offered a spot on a new team.  This involved a big signing day event where we made things official!

The Facklers helped the good times roll when they hosted us for a July 3rd party.

The work that goes on behind the scenes of getting 10 kids to focus is my favorite part!!

On July 4th, we skipped our usual "secret" spot and went to our town's Independence Festival instead.

Then I flew to Indy to meet Mr. Baby J Laythan!

I was only there for a few days but I loved getting to see his momma rock her new role and get to know this cutie's sweet personality!

Finally, in mid-July, we had our last baseball tournament.

Y'all were playing well when you wore your pink so we took the pink theme all the way!

To wrap up our season we hosted the team at our pool.

A few days later, you left for your first summer camp experience, Jax!

I stalked the camp's facebook page and found this pic they posted of you.

And while you were camping, Colt was gearing up to go back to the shelter.  Colt, it was still tough to see so many dogs waiting for homes and you preferred waiting outside.  I saw a mutt puppy (4-6 months old) and asked the staff to bring her to you.  She was named Ivy and you agreed that she would complete our family.

We started calling her Scout right away because of your involvement with Cub Scouts but as soon as we pulled into our neighborhood, you announced that you actually wanted to name her Grace.

Grace was thrilled to see a friend waiting for her at home!

We picked you up from camp a few days later and brought our newest addition with us!

Jax, you loved her right away!

There is a new trampoline park on the lake so the Facklers checked it out with us.

While we are packing a lot of fun into summer, it is truly a short summer.
Because of that, we decided to only do a little vacation and road tripped down to San Antonio to explore our great state.

As soon as we checked into the JW Marriott, we went to dinner and took advantage of their dessert buffet!

The pool was still open so we had a sunset swim.

To ensure you were tired for bed, we enjoyed this staircase : )

The next day was all about enjoying their water activities.

We left the resort to have dinner on the riverwalk and made sure to stop by the Alamo.

Back at the hotel, we took advantage of their free s'mores!

The next day was checkout day because our road trip was moving on to Austin.

My picture taking was seriously lacking but we watched the bats from Congress Avenue Bridge, toured the capitol, visited the Bob Bullock museum, and ate so much yummy food!!

By the time we made it back to Dallas, there weren't many summer days left so we quickly squeezed in a Hawaiian Falls day with our buds.

Why does summer have to end?!?!?!
