Summer Break - Week 7

Dearest Jax and Colton,

This week's motto was "cheap fun with cheerful friends" and it was a success!

Monday was just us and we hit up the $1 movie theater in Lewisville to see Walking With Dinosaurs

We joined the Haryckis on Tuesday for a swim at a new-to-us park in Grapevine.

The Vaughns conquered Coppell with us on Wednesday as we did Kid Country, The Ark, and lunch!

We went back to Grapevine on Thursday when we met up with the Raineys at Paradise Pond.

And today we kept to Flower Mound by having Kennedy come over to swim at our house.

Friends make summer break even better than it already is!

Rough Riders

Dearest Baseball Fans,

Daddy's work hosted a family friendly event on Friday night at the Rough Riders game and we were happy to partake.  They rented out the 3rd base party suite and a party it was!

Y'all were so happy that Kaden was there since he's a familiar face from the neighborhood.
(Note:  You're sitting like this because the temps dropped into the 60s that night!!!...in JULY!...in TEXAS!?!?!  (We actually set a new record with the crazy weather!))

We stayed through all nine innings and even enjoyed the fireworks afterwards.

A chilly night of fun was had by all!

Summer Break - Week 6

Dearest Colt and Jax,

As I'm sure you'll know by the time you read this, summer breaks aren't all "break" for teachers.  This week proved that true as I had 18 hours of training to attend all about Balanced Literacy.  Your summer fun didn't stop though.  Jax, you attended your 3rd sports camp - this time it was baseball.  Colt, you attended your very first "camp" at a local gymnastics center.

Unfortunately, it rained on the one day that I could stop by for pictures and baseball camp had to be moved inside.

Colt, you ran around like you owned the place and your energy was impressive.
(Although you took big naps for Grandpa each time he picked you up!)

You're wanting to go back again already!

Summer Break - Weeks 4 and 5

Dearest Boys,

Week 4 was spent returning from Michigan, getting back to life in Flower Mound (my vacation-lag seems to last way longer than what is typical), and celebrating our country's independence.

Week 4, Tuesday - We put away suitcases, did laundry, and just chilled in the comforts of our own home.  Our rest time was extra long and you slept next to me so sweetly, Colt.

Week 4, Wednesday - Our fridge was empty so we picked up a treat before restocking it:

Week 4, Thursday -  While I don't have any pictures, I still want to document this first for you, Jax.  On this day, a friend's nanny picked you up and took you for the day.  Considering that she isn't a friend of mine and she was taking you in her car, I think this was a huge step [for me].  You went to the movies first and then headed to the community pool for swimming.  I checked in via text message a few times that day and I was so relieved when she brought you home that afternoon.

Meanwhile, Colt, we played some fun games in the backyard : )

Week 4, Friday - Fourth of July!  We enjoyed having Daddy home with us and y'all swam your hearts out while I went shopping with Grandma.  We met up with the Vaughns later for playtime and fireworks.  Mr. Justin picked the perfect spot and we watched a great display from the back of his truck!

Week 4, Saturday -  The Facklers hosted a shindig at their house and you boys had fun slippin' and slidin'.

Week 5....it was so nice just to be home without ANY plans so we took things slow and simple.  And maybe I was a little *too* relaxed because all the days seem to run together in my mind.?.?. So here is a picture dump from the week:
Jax, you started indoor soccer and it's a hit already!
We visited the Fort Worth Zoo.
The otters flirted with you!
The train ride was a must for cool-down purposes.
We taught you pool maintenance ; )
We got Bahama Bucks (and this is their smallest size!!).
And y'all spent the whole weekend at Grandpa and Grandma's house!

Summer break has been absolutely perfect!

Summer Break - Week 3, Saturday & Sunday (some Monday, too!)

Dearest Boys,

Saturday morning was the morning y'all had been waiting for since before we even landed in Michigan!  You two both wanted to go fishing so badly and the men-folk were happy to oblige you.

Colt, your catch was pretty cute - but not a keeper.

We ate a quick lunch after your fishing trip and then it was straight back into the water.
I am NOT a lake person.  Do you know this about me?  Really, I'm not into deep water at all.  And lakes are the worst with their mucky water and creepy plant growth.  Buuuuuut, Elk Lake is so different and it has spoiled me for life as far as lakes are concerned.  Elk Lake has beautiful water, a sandy bottom, and it is shallow far beyond what is normal.  Of course, that doesn't come across very well with my pictures - but I tried:

Y'all relaxed before dinner and shared together impressively well.

Later, us adults fit in another sunset from the dock.

Sunday was bleh because it was rainy and 4/10 of us had to return home.  Aunt Jess read to you one more time before they loaded up (and Uncle Mike used Hailey's umbrella outside!).

After the rained cleared and the family left, the rest of us drove into Charlevoix.  We admired the marina and the many gorgeous boats.

Watching the draw bridge was probably your favorite thing to watch
The day was made complete with a stop for ice cream!

Monday was spent putting away the jet ski, packing, and cleaning up the house.
You two goofballs loved riding the jet ski into the garage.

You were thrilled to help Daddy on the Cub Cadet

Then we said our goodbyes before heading to the airport.

Between the relaxation, the fun, and the reconnecting with family - this week away was just what we needed.  Until next time...
