Helping Somebody

Dear Colt & Jax,

After today's tee ball game, we went to an Open House at a nearby fire station.

They gave out these free hats and, Jax, you obliged me for a quick picture.

Colt, you barely stopped moving from the moment we got there!

They had various rescue dogs there and this one reminded me of Grandma & Grandpa M.'s dog, Major.  His owner told us all about how he goes on search and rescue missions and has been trained to pick up specific scents.  I could have spent my whole time with the hounds, German shepherds, and retrievers....

but there were boats to explore!  This handsome helpful guy showed you how they spray water from their rescue boats.

You were also allowed to examine all the switches and levers on the fire engine.

We even climbed into the back of a lot of the vehicles and learned about their gear.

The grand finale was seeing this demonstration of how they rescue people from vehicles using the jaws of life.

Colt, you happily watched from the comfort of Daddy's lap.

Jax, you chowed down on the free popcorn and sat back like you were taking in a movie : )

Let's hope that Open Houses are the only places where we interact with these folks!
